L&M Squares, Inc.
Annual Report
April 22, 2015

L&M Squares meets the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month at the Cash Wise Community Room (1401 33rd St. S) in Fargo, ND.  Currently, there are 50 members in the organization.  The 2015 board of directors consist of Harvey Hegvik, President; Ken and LuWayne Barnes, Vice Presidents; Donna Alby, Secretary/Treasurer; Roger and Bernadette McNeil & Jim and Rita Lizakowski, advisors.  An average of 30 dancers participated in the Tuesday evening dances.

On October 14, 2014, the organization sponsored a fund raising event for the Breast Friends, a group dedicated to bring awareness about breast cancer and to raise funds for research.  Forty-one dancers attended the event.  L&M Squares was able to donate $512 to the Breast Friends.

The club invited new caller, Charley Huhtala, to call some of the tips at the regular Tuesday dances.  He is honing his skills under the direction of veteran caller, Roger McNeil.

Two guest callers have been scheduled for May and September.  The members are looking forward to dancing to Tom Manning on June 23, 2015; and to Tom Allen on September 8, 2015.

On April 14, 2015, a special meeting took place to change the name from L&M Squares to L&M Squares, Inc.  This was necessary to comply with IRS regulations that required the club to get a new EIN number since the old one was declared inactive.  To avoid confusion, the membership voted to change the name.

Respectfully submitted,

Donna Alby

 Saturday Fun Nite

We started out the 2014 and 2015 season on September 13 dancing to the calling of Tom Allen. Saturday Fun Nite dances the 2nd and fourth Saturday of the month from 7:30 to 10:00 P.M. Dances are held at St. Anthony of Padua, 710 10thStreet S, Fargo ND 58103. There was no dance on the 25th of October (North Dakota Callers Convention). The dance scheduled November 8th with Royce Nelson was cancelled on account of members wanting to attend the Hoedown in Sioux Falls. Royce Nelson let us out of our contract. There was no dance scheduled for December 27th. Larry Johansen was scheduled to call the dance on March 28, he was unable to make it, and so he switched with Charley Huhtala who was scheduled for April 11. This was Charley Huhtala’s first full dance that he called. Good dance. Saturday Fun Nite has had the fun and pleasure to dance to Jim Lizakowski, Roger McNeil, Larry Johansen, Larry Pfennig, Tom Allen, Charley Huhtala, and cuers Bernadette McNeil and Rita Lizakowski. Saturday Fun Nite members have supported the other clubs in the area by attending their dances. They also have been helping to promote square dancing by being angels at lessons, dancing at demos in nursing homes, Steam Threshers at Rollag, West Fargo School, Clay County Fair, Pioneer Village West Fargo, Sod Buster Days, in parades, Streets Alive, Fargo Marathon. 2015 is the 35th birthday of Saturday Fun Nite. Allan and Carol Currie are charter members and are still dedicated members. If we did not have dancers like that the club would have folded. Our last dance of the season is May 9th, with Roger and Bernadette McNeil. Root Beer floats. Officers: President-------------------Dennis C. Weerts Vice Presidents------------Merrill and Norene Braaten Secretary/Treasurer-----Corene Geffre

The Prairie Promenaders dance on the first and third Friday from September through May.  Our regular hall is the Madison Community Room at 1040 N 26 St in Fargo.  We usually have between one and three squares dancing.  Starting September 2015 we will be dancing on the first and fifth Friday.

Circle 8 Plus Club Report

April 2015

The Circle 8 Plus Club continues to dance on the 1st, 3rd, and 5th Saturdays from September to May. We are dancing at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Fargo this year, and for nights that location is not available, we dance in West Fargo at Journey in Faith Lutheran Church. Both locations work quite well for dancing, and we appreciate them being available. It is always a good idea to call ahead to be sure we are still dancing according to our schedule, since we don't always have a lot of notice if we need to change locations.

We have 13 members in the club, and have featured a variety of callers during the year. We are happy to be members of the Square Dance Federation of Minnesota, as well as the North Dakota Square and Round Dance Clubs, Inc.
